About Amira

Welcome to my blog! I am a licensed therapist living and working in the Bedford Stuyvesant community in Brooklyn NY. I was born and raised in NYC. I attended Lehman College for undergraduate studies in Social Work and Hunter College School of Social Work for my masters degree in Social Work. At Hunter (now called the Silberman School of Social Work) I majored in Clinical Social Work and minored in Social Work Administration. I used to work for a large non profit and run a very small, private therapy practice. But it went so well that I left that large non profit to run my own business full time! I have a group therapy practice with over twenty five practitioners, all women of color! Although I am thrilled with the joy of my work and success- some of my most cherished roles are being a mother, auntie, sister, friend and partner. I practice therapy! I love supervising and building my business of women healers! And I love meeting new people- especially those that inspire me to dream or create! You can also reach me at amiramartinlcsw@gmail.com.

  1. Good work. I’ve always been interested in the social worker’s perspective in these scenarios. Can’t wait to see more posts.
